** 🌿May Spotlight: Spring Cleanup—Safety First at the Curb🌿**
Spring cleaning often means a surge in volume at the curb. By following these three simple rules, you can help us ensure every cart is serviced efficiently and safely.
Three Tips for a Safe Spring Cleanup:
- Mind the Weight Limit: Standard curbside carts are designed for household waste, not heavy materials like soil, rocks, or large appliances. Heavy items can cause carts to break or fall during automated collection.
- Lid Clearance: Please ensure the lid of your cart can close completely. Overfilled carts lead to litter, spillage, and safety hazards for our drivers while navigating your streets.
- Dangerous “Hidden” Items: Garage cleanouts often involve older items. Please remember that lithium-ion batteries (found in old toys, electronics, and power tools) should never be placed in your trash or recycling bins, as they can spark dangerous fires in our trucks.
The Core Goal
By following these etiquette tips, you protect our frontline workers, keep our streets free of litter, and support a more efficient collection process for the whole community.
